Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q:

What should I know about CW3 Soccer Association?

A:
Please visit our About Us page for general information about our organization.

Q:
If my child does not live in the Commerce, Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake or Wixom area, can they still participate in CW3 Soccer?

A:
Yes. You do not have to reside in the lakes area to participate in CW3 Soccer. We currently have players from many different areas. However, our practice locations and home games are focused in the lakes area.

Q:
What program(s) can my child can participate in?

A:
Please visit the Age Eligibility page which contains a chart displaying the program(s) your child is eligible for based on his/her birthdate.

Q:
My child has no previous soccer experience. Can he/she play?

A:
Yes, definitely. CW3’s Recreational House League is a great entry point into CW3 as this program accommodates a wide range of experience.

Q:
My child is quite small for his/her age. Can I he/she play down to a lower age group?

A:
No, due to insurance reasons, this is not permitted. However, rest assured that children come in all shapes and sizes and on any given team; there will be children of varying heights and weights.

Cost/Payment Questions
Q:
How much does it cost to play soccer?

A:
The cost is program dependent. Please visit the individual program pages for pricing.

Q:
What method of payment do you accept for registrations?

A:
CW3 accepts Visa or MasterCard. If there is no possibility of paying with either Visa or MasterCard, please contact our Administrator at 248-974-5959 to discuss alternative payment options (i.e. mail a check).

Q:
Can I get a refund if I register and later find out that my child cannot play?

A:
During the registration process, we outline refund deadline dates. A refund must be requested by that date and $10 will be charged as a service fee. Beyond that deadline date, refunds will not be issued. Especially in periods of late registration, refunds will not be issued due to uniform and team commitments.

Program Specific Questions

Q:
What is the difference between the Academy and House program?

A:
Academy has experienced paid coaches and House teams have volunteer coaches. Academy teams will have 2 practices per week while House teams may have one or more practices per week, depending on the coach. Academy teams play teams from neighboring communities in the Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL). A House team will only play other CW3 house teams.

Q:
Where are practices and games held?

A:
This is program and coach dependent. Please visit the individual program pages and Fields page for further information.

Q:
What days are the practices and games held?

A:
This is program dependent. Please visit the individual program pages for further information.

Q:
What equipment do I need to provide for my child?

The equipment required varies by program and age. Please visit the individual program pages for more information.

Existing Player Questions
Q:
If it rains or is very cold, does my child still have practice?

A:
Rain or cold weather does not generally stop a practice unless there is also lightening and/or thunder. However, the best point of contact to know whether you have practice or not in inclement weather, is your child’s coach.

Q:
My child is active in a number of different activities. What if I get the practice and game schedule and it conflicts with his/her other activities?

A:
Due to the nature of soccer and the fact that we utilize volunteer coaches and we enter our Academy and Rec Travel teams into WSSL, we cannot provide scheduling information until very close to the start of each season. Overbooking your child does not constitute a refund on our part. Participation in a soccer program needs to be given priority just like any other activity or sport.

Q:
Can I reuse my uniform?

A:
Fall House players can reuse their uniform in the following Spring season. Academy, CW3 Juniors, and Rec Travel players can purchase their uniform once and use it until they outgrow it as long as they remain in an Academy, CW3 Juniors, or Rec Travel program.

Q:
I have registered, when will I hear from a coach?

A:
Approximately two weeks before the start of every season, we hold a coaches meeting. At that point, we distribute rosters to the coaches and ask that they contact their players. You can expect to hear from a coach no later than about 10 days to one week before the start of season.

Q:
How do I go about becoming a coach or an assistant coach for my child’s team?

A:
There is a box on the registration that you check if you want to coach. Also, there is a special request box that you can type that information into. Further, you are welcome to call the CW3 Administrator at 248-974-5959 to let her know you would like to coach. We welcome and appreciate any parents who would like to volunteer to coach.

Q:
My child is looking for a bigger commitment and would like to play soccer for a greater part of the year. What should I do?

A:
Consider having your child tryout for our CW3 Jaguars Soccer Club, which provides an 11 month training program for boys and girls U7 through U19. Tryouts are held once per year in June. Questions about our CW3 Jaguars can be directed to Mike Scobie at mike_scobie@yahoo.com.
